The Biergerpakt and nationality / residence permit
How does the Biergerpakt help in asking for the Luxembourgish nationality or the long-term residency status?
For members of the Biergerpakt who wish to apply either for long-term resident status or to acquire Luxembourg nationality by option, the Biergerpakt offers an advantage.
The so-called “introductory modules” provided for by law are taken into account under certain conditions.
These three introductory modules are:
- the Orientation Day
- the learning of one of the three official languages
- the course “Discovering the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg”, its history and its customs
How does this work in practice ?
After participating in:
- the Orientation Day
- the course “Discovering the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg”
you will receive a certificate of participation in your private space on myguichet.lu.
In order for the “language module” to be recognised, an A1.1 level in one of the three official languages must be certified. You have several options for this:
- submit your “Sproochentest” certificate from the Institut national des langues (INLL)
- submit your certificate from the “Altissia” platform
- submit a certificate from a different language course
The certificate that you submit must have been issued during the period of membership in the Biergerpakt. Please send it to us through our contact form.
Once all three introductory modules have been successfully completed, your final certificate will be made available in your private myguichet.lu space. This certificate can be attached to the application for long-term resident status or for Luxembourgish nationality by option. The applicant for nationality then benefits from a shorter processing time.
