Learning languages with the Biergerpakt - Zesummeliewen

The Biergerpakt offers all its members the opportunity to learn and practice the administrative languages of Luxembourg. The Biergerpakt provides access to online language courses.

For language practice, the Biergerpakt promotes language cafés, which are organised by municipalities, associations, and municipal commissions for living together.

Learn French and German

The Biergerpakt offers its members free activation codes to learn French and German on the online learning platform Altissia. This platform allows users to learn languages according to their own rhythm and availabilities.

Learn Luxembourgish

To learn Luxembourgish, the Biergerpakt partners with the Learn Luxembourgish Online (LLO) platform of the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth. LLO offers free Luxembourgish language courses up to level B2. It allows users to complete online exercises, take a proficiency, and participate in both virtual and in-person activities.

Getting your language learning validated within the framework of the Biergerpakt

To have your language module validated, it is necessary to provide a certificate of learning at least at level A1.1. This certificate needs to be issued after you joined the Biergerpakt. You have several possibilities:

submit a proof that you took a test on Altissia (French, German)
submit a copy of your “Sproochentest,” a language test taken at the Institut national des langues as part of the procedure for obtaining nationality
submit a certificate of successful completion of an approved language course attended voluntarily and independently of the Biergerpakt
