The Vauban Trail takes its name from the famous military engineer Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban. In the 17th century, this seasoned strategist and fortification builder transformed the city of Luxembourg into one of the most powerful fortresses in Europe by strengthening its defences and systematically securing potential points of attack. The path leading from the Upper Town to the picturesque district of Pfaffenthal and then on to Kirchberg offers magnificent views and brings the city’s turbulent past back to life.
