The “Casemates” carved in the hard sand-stone rock by Spaniards and French milItary specialists in the 17th century were part of the mighty fortress of Luxembourg called “Gibraltar of the North”
Equipment needed:
– Flash-lights as the tunnels will be completely dark
– Wear proper shoes as we will use some staircases and the ground floors will be bumpy in the undergrounds
– Wear adequate clothing against coldness and humidity (temperature will drop to 10 degrees)
– Some segments in the undergrounds are narrow with a low ceiling !
Meet each time at 2:45 PM in front of the entrance gate of the Fondation Pescatore (small roundabout).
